Probably just a short novel that focuses on MC's experiences as he fights in the front lines then attempts to go home after being separated. Probably a niche topic, but it's a good starter for a bildungsroman and isn't a fictional topic that you see too much. It'll focus mostly on character growth rather than MC saving the world or something.

As far as LNs go, I'm sure that's more fresh than the typical stuff you'd see- or at least what I've seen adapted into anime. However, it sounds a lot like a handful of western military films I've seen or heard of.
I think it'd be interesting if it plays up just like one of those stories for the first bit, but then deviates from military-focused into something more cultural. As in, what changes the MC over time isn't the fighting or the war, so much as where he'd ended up at.

Yeah, the plan was to have the war just be a backdrop, and a lot of it just him traveling home. Still trying to work out the details about how he starts as a character and ends as a character.
I've been watching anime and reading manga for over 6 years and I still haven't seen anything about JoJo's or Berserk.

I think Nichijou is one of the worst comedy anime ever made relying way too much on random humor

I like ecchi manga as long as the story is the main focus, rather than it being a vessel through which to deliver ecchi.
I drop pretty much every show with school, teens or preteens as MCs, or harems.
I read manga on online sites, don't see the point of downloading something that I'm going to read once.
1. I only seed bad anime.
2. I shitpost in threads about shows I've never seen without reading any of the posts.
3. I go into Eva threads and make fun of those Reifags who post a paragraph and then exit tab without reading their reply.
4. I promote genuine discussion in threads that I do like.
5. TTGL was Dogshit.

I actually used CR streaming for the first year I posted on /a/ before switching to the Horriblesubs IRC way of getting it
I only watch anime in the winter and fall when I'm at school, and I have no idea why everyone is so crazy about chaika or umaru because of it

That's a bummer. I've never looked at those, but I've wondered. I guess the fact you're going for an LN accommodates the fact it's a short story you're going for.
