So the only reasons people like FLCL so much is because of the god tier animation for the time that it aired, the soundtrack, and because of nostalgia?
pretty much
that's why the new seasons are going to bomb

We where young back then anon. And there was a over the top show with good music, robots, dirty jokes, a sexy, crazy alien girl that fights with a bass.
It was a teen animated wet dream

You just listed the reasons people like anime.
don't make a thread when there is already a sticky.

for the time? FLCL still has some of the greatest animation in the history of the medium

Nah it had a good story and characterizations that could be applied to anyone who is going through stages of growing up.
Mostly nostalgia.
Most of us are pushing towards wizardry anyway
Someone in us pay a lot to make a new flcl
Nobody read the manga so the anime was a breath of fresh air for many people. This was before anime subbing and piracy really hit the scene. Gainax was in their prime and releasing top tier animation and anime works. Fooly came at the right place at the right time.

It basically is the best thing from the positive wave of japanese media pre 11-S with the best crew thinkable at the time and even now.
It makes you feel good while it's one of the best shows about adolescence out there.
Making a sequel is absolutely ridiculous though.
Growing up, I never really "got" it. I just watched it because it was on late, thought it looked cool, and found it oddly relaxing.
When I grew up and got more into anime I decided to give it a more honest watch. I ultimately concluded that it's a stylish show about a kid growing up, but that's all I've ever gotten out of it. I think it just resonates more with some people.
I still think it's a fantastic show however, and would consider it worth a watch. I think everyone can find something to enjoy from it.

Not with that disgusting CG it isn't.
