When you make a DMC anime you need it to be REALLY well animated, or have really good character interactions to make up for it. When you turn Dante into a boring, slow speaking wall you ruin half the appeal. The dub did a better job, getting Dante's english voice actor to try and spice up the script but it still fell flat on it's face.

DMC1 Dante aka Kamiya Dante is a completely different character than DMC3/4 Dante aka Capcom Dante.
Kamiya Dante is also the one that likes strawberry sundae (as per Kamiya's design instructions) while Capcom Dante likes Pizza.

This. It's okay but nothing special, mainly due to being an inconsequential story (since it's meant to be set between games). Other than that, Dante looked great and I myself enjoyed thedub.
It looks nice and has a good soundtrack, but the action is very disappointing. There's not much impressive choreography like 3 and 4's cutscenes, Dante just kinda one-shots everything.
