Really, lets analise UBW objectively and compare it to Zero:
In Fate/Zero, they always switched the narrative focus between the characters of its large cast, and all characters were developed well. UBW, though, focused on Shirou, and then expected you to care about characters you've never learned about. Really, they literally gave a backstory to Illya WHILE SHE WAS FUCKING DYING, with a shitty flashback. Also UBW was filled with high school shit.
