A tiny town is sent to the past, and the ancient men abduct the women to rape them. The men get mad, but they can't do anything as they're now.

Well alright. The story takes place in a mideavel country with many diverse ecosystems. The king has heard of an underground group of rebels plotting a coup, so he summons the most capable people of the land- a wareior, knight, archer, assasin, mage, enchantress, merchant, monk, and a ranger, who are the best in the country. Odly enough, the king also summons a peasant boy, who is the MC. He tells them that one of them is the rebel leader, and that they must discover who it is and execute him or her. So they all set out on a quest to find the truth. The mc, unsure of why he is summoned, is met with the enchantress, someone who has detected herself to nonviolent passive magic, and they team up to complete thier quest. depends, you can always go to the well and trot out mythology or tolkien based adventures, or you can invent something completely different. The problem with forging a path in completely different, is you run the risk of falling into the trap that scifi often falls into, and make the world into the story.
personally I think you need to make the characters relatable. the only way to do that in an alien world is to focus attention on the character interaction, typically unrequited love or conversely romance itself makes a great place to start when writing a story in a "unique" world. Otherwise you have to make the MC a self insert for the audience. If you want your MC to resonate with the audience and have a strong personality, you HAVE to focus most of the interpersonal relationships around falling in love or unrequited love, else you run the very real risk of alienation of the audience in this unfamiliar world.
so to answer the op's question i would make it an alien world, unsimilar to any fantasy world, i'd ground the interpersonal story in the unrequited love dynamic of the MC with one of the main female characters, then i'd make it a character driven drama in this fantasy world, that spirals out into the main plot for the world itself, I would probably skip the save the world dynamic and focus more on a survival to riches story, as that opens the door to sequels, and doesn't have power levels that spiral out of control.
