Well more likely he will have defeated the statues and then loose to their controller. My bets on either BG9 or Shuutara. If it's BG9, it will be revealed that Cang Du is alive and with him, because in Bleach you can survive getting cut in half like Hiyori or talk without a heart like Askin. That way Ganju and Chad can loose individually.

Whether he was going to die or not, Byakuya's death scene was beautiful and perfect, but Kubo was willing to ruin it. I'm not saying it was because of fan girls, but rather that Kubo is willing to let someone survive, even though the other option would have been better. So if Kubo wants Cang Du to survive, he will find a way to let him survive, regardless of whether that makes sense or is a good idea.

The point is that Byakuya's was never supposed to be a death scene, it was supposed to be an utter defeat scene that ends with him being humbled enough to ask Ichigo to help. The only reason people ever thought it was a death scene in the first place was because of shitty scans that initially made his injuries seem much worse than they actually were.

By the time Aizen would be free again, he either would have succomed to boredom or they would have figured out a way to kill him off. Or what is even more likely. There's an inconsistency here though - souls can pass through objects, but sometimes their flying bodies thrash the surrounding buildings. You could say that it's just an effect of whatever Yumichika requested once (that spatial-thingy) in order to limit damage to the real world.
