There is no real plot in the anime. It's just a few kids trying to survive in a cruel fantasy world.

The execution was shit. The slowed the whole thing to such a crawl that watching it was almost physically painful.

They fucked up most of the character development from the novels. It's still there, but is so fucking awkward that it misses the very point it's trying to make. The whole change in the second half didn't help much either, as it tried to maintain the same idea while changing everything about its execution and while it did manage some neat things, it ultimately made some of events nonsensical and lead to characters bitching and angsting over the wrong things.

The tone is horribly inconsistent because they cut out a lot of important shit while keeping the dumb useless stuff and they stretched out the emotional scenes far beyond their appropriate length. Even the tense and dramatic scenes with conflict were largely made cheap and boring by wasting too much time on Haru's internal monologuing. The insert songs were also utter shit and the combat music painfully clashed with the tone.

Rakugo is by far my favourite thing that I saw this season. Didn't watch everything but I really doubt there's anything I'd like more. Glad to see it with so many votes. I voted Haruchika as worst but there are probably shittier things out there that I didn't watch, probably Divine Gate or PSO.
I don't get the dislike for Phantom World. It's not a good show at all but it's markedly above most of the season. But I guess it's a "which fanbase do you hate the most" contest since Erased is #2, eh?

Rakugo has niche appeal but it's really, really solid. Easily best directed, most (in my opinion) compelling story and characters, highest production values. If you liked something like House of Five Leaves you'll like this. Period drama with an emphasis on the characters.

Some people like this type of comedy, others are there for the waifus. I endured two episodes, but I'm allergic to harems unless they succeed spectacularly at something else. KonoSuba didn't. The comedy wasn't my cup of tea, and even an interesting MC and Megumin couldn't save it - Aqua was just painful to look at, one of the worst characters of the year. Still voted Active Raid the worst, because Bahamut wasn't on the list. At least KonoSuba has two characters I liked; Active Raid was the funny over the top kind of bad, and Bahamut was the bland copy-paste battle harem kind of bad.
Also, Boku Dake a best. Even the shitstorm on /a/ couldn't ruin it for me.
