I don't see why you view it as black and white. If a novel or show is written to have a plot-twist but you're told what the twist is at the very beginning, you won't have the same experience. That's not to say that once you know you won't enjoy it at all (considering if you like other elements of it, you'll still find it objectively "good"), but that first experience without the knowledge of the ending is unique. You miss out on the author's intention if you know from the start exactly what the surprise is going to be.
I get what you're trying to say, but there's also logic in their psychology as well. I liken what your saying about the show to my first time reading the manga, but as I start the author tells me "Yashiro is the killer". There's no way I would've enjoyed the manga as much.

Wow these threads are so shit, why do mods even allow this kind of shit generals to begin with? And even if the numbers were correct, most of the time it doesn't matter since the adaption boosts the sales of the source material, and sometimes the numbers are bloated by event tickets. Anime was saved this season by having real good shows like Rakugo and Erased but at the same time it was killed by having yet another installment of aniplex bullshit at the top of the list, and then having a shitty battle harem after that, and if that wasn't enough, fucking GuP is in the top 10 right now, fucking kill me. At least based tekyuu is going strong still, that shit's eternal. But still, condoning the usage of sales as a measure of success is what causes studios to stay in their comfort zone and produce fail-safe shows like how they've all been riding the moeshit trend in the past decade.
