As someone living in Japan I can confirm that the nature of the Japanese people is very reserved, yet they're not entirely SHAMEFU DISPRAY. They let loose and have fun. I see high school kids holding hands and couples walking around like couples would. The whole way that reserved nature is portrayed in anime is a crock of shit. The newer and younger generation of Japanese folk are pretty expressive and very diverse in how they act. I never feel completely culture shocked living here, aside from the fact that my odds of being shot or stabbed are virtually nonexistent. Don't base your entire view on Japanese culture based on anime, because it's wrong.
