Things like Mushishi, Galaxy Express, Kino no Tabi, The Phoenix, The Sky Crawlers, Haibane Renmei, Spring and Chaos etc. The ones that don't flaunt philosopher quotes like dicks, but instead give food for thought by presenting ideas that are actually backed up instead of being just shallow concepts.
And don't try to elevate yourself over others with your reading habit, there is only a handful of good sci-fi novels. Real patricians read classic French, German and Russian literature, and most importantly, the Greeks.

Sky Crawlers fleshed out eternal recurrence, which Japanese jack off to in a shitload of modern media. It can come of as pretentious depending on the viewer, but it didn't serve as a cancer prototype the same way Innocence did. Slightly better than Ergo Proxy, Psycho-Pass and the like, but with the same unsubstantiated ideas and quote dropping. It was Oshii's weakest movie, even the Urusei Yatsura movies are worlds apart from it.
