I was a huge fan of the manga and ln before the anime aired. and i was NOT waiting for the anime; I was dreading the anime, convinced DEEN would fuck it up so badly we'd wish we never saw it.
I did not expect them to adapt it so well as to capture the atmosphere and comedy of the light novel without rewriting everything. Nor did I expect the warm spot in my heart for Megumin to grow into open infatuation.

Aqua's stats are all incredibly high (possibly even maximum) except intelligence and luck.
Megumin does have incredibly high mana, that's basically her racial ability. That being said Explosion is incredibly mana consuming which is why it's considered a retardedly useless spell.

The actual magic system in Fantastraya seems rather silly from what we know.
You have three categories of magic: Basic Magic, Intermediate Magic and Advanced Magic. Learning any of these categories seems to give you access to all spells in it so they look like a package deal.
Just look at Kazuma for example, he got Freeze, Tinder, Create Water, Create Dirt and Gust just for learning Basic Magic---
...speaking of which has that faggot used Gust to flip skirts yet? Because I don't remember him doing it, but seems like a must.
Then you have stand alone-spells like the Explosion trio which are Blast, Detonate and Explosion that have to be learned individually. Just for reference Advanced Magic costs 30 skill points while Explosion is 50 so it's an incredibly shitty deal.

Not in base rulesets, but I've always run a homebrew where at the beginning of the day, when you prep, you can trade up two spell-slots of Spell Level X for one slot of X+1. Every time you do this, up the casting time.
So, if you were casting Level 9 explosion, you'd need the equivalent of over 1024 Level 1 spell slots and it would take over 512 rounds to fully cast if prepared this way. That's nearly an in-game hour.

I would assume it's something like sit down for a few minutes and wait for your spells and health to replenish. That being said here is nothing Vancian about the spells in Overlord though, Epic spells just had ridiculously long cooldowns so I don't think they had an actual resting mechanic.

He didn't even have any skillpoints at first level and when he leveled up the first skills he learned were thieving skills from Chris. I'm pretty sure he just learned the sword skill in one of the later volumes, but I could be off on that. As for killing frogs: those things are huge, he probably just stabbed them in the eye while they were eating Aqua or something. We don't really have a whole lot of insight into the level system of Konosuba so we can only make assumptions based on vague mentions an clues.

They're a pretty shit solution desu, although I guess DnD has its own sort of cooldown since you can only cast 1 (maybe 2 if you take that feat) spells every round, whatever a round is (was it 6 seconds or 5?)

IIRC even the pen & paper systems had spell points (which basically worked like mana for all intents and purposes) as an alternative to spell memorization. I know for a fact 5th edition has this and I think 3rd edition might have as well, but I'm not too familiar with that edition outside of video games.

Okay I finally figured out the swordsmanship shit that's been bugging me, it's all in Vol. 1 chapter 2-
in regards to Darkness being shit
