Am I the only one here who unironically believes that Sekko Boys is the best anime of the season?
On the surface it's really funny and absurd, and if you start thinking about all this stuff that goes on in the show it becomes a really good critique of japanese music industry, idoldom etc.
I like to think it's somehow a worthy successor to thermae romae, which never got a second season

I watched a bit of the first episode, and it seemed a little josei in tone, so I didn't bother watching further.
I'm looking to pick up something else, but over the years I've developed an aversion to asian-female oriented shows. Did I misread it? Is it something everyone can enjoy?

There's some concepts that really only work as shorts for good reason. Sekko Boys is one joke, that they expand upon with animation. I don't really think its bad or good, its really just a question if you like that one joke or not. Otherwise its hard to enjoy the show.
I felt the same way about almost any anime short, its almost like I gave up on enjoying it before it started. That said I'm enjoying Galko-chan for the same reason, I like the one joke they are doing better than sekko boys and the VAs are top tier.
