The plots for almost all of the episodes were too shitty for me to have unironically enjoyed the series without the added comedy of the dub. Most of the episodes were just poorly done generic horror archetypes, and the few exceptions were awful concepts like a bathroom ghost that pulls students into a portal through the toilet. The dub saved that series, honestly.

If it's a simple shounen/action show, I usually watch it dubbed, everything else, mostly subbed, but it doesn't matter to me in the end, since which ever I hear first will always be my preferred option, unless the dub is some 4kids tier garbage.
Dubs are great if I'm rewatching a show.

See, Ghost Stories is different because you're watching it for the dub. Certain shows like Cowboy Bebop, you're watching for Cowboy Bebop, and that can be communicated with Japanese audio or English audio

Really? I've been watching the dub and then I went to watch the sub and the plot and much of the dialogue is pretty spot on. The only thing the dub does is add in political jokes and more goofy phrases so far as I can tell.

I always preferred subs over dubs, even before I knew there was a war over something that, to me, was something that wasn't even a debate. Dubs always have that "stilted" quality to them, yes even "great" dubs like Cowboy Bebop or Code Geass. Only meme dubs like Ghost Stories and select few anime like Space Dandy are worth watching dub. That being said, it's not that big of a deal, really.

The dub for Ghost Stories is literally 10/10 so that's not a good series to ask this question with.
The best part about it in my opinion is how you can tell as they go along the VA's stop caring more and more until the end where the last scene is just the cats VA listing off people he wanted to shout out to.

The dub is funny.
Watching it reminded me of another silly dub, though I can't find it again. I remember watching it on youtube, and it involved a guy who looked like a Char Aznab knockoff fighting a guy with a sword who turns out to be a woman. After he finds out the guy was his girl all along, a midget shows up and starts trying to beat the shit out of him as well, but the girl stops him from beating up the midget for some reason. He then gets caught and a big old guy shows up and starts torturing him while the girl watches like a pussy. Finally, he escapes and fights the evil bitch (who isn't his girl) by flying around in some sort of spaceship until he eventually knocks her off the edge into lava or something. He almost falls off too but is saved by the Friendship and Love. The whole thing is so poorly animated it looks like a bootleg from the 80s (which is ptorbably is).
I originally saw it on /a/ years ago (I think in a bootleg thread, those are always fun) but I haven't been able to find it since. Maybe one of you fuckers knows about it, because I'd really like to find it again.
