Is One Punch Man going to end with the death of Saitama, as he will continue looking to test his own strength against the most powerful foes?
The parallels between the first and last episode of season 1 are pretty compelling for this argument.

Anyway, I don't think he would put innocent people to danger, for the sake of the fun battle. You could see that in his fight vs Boros. Just when he was about to use his super power, which could destroy the Earth, Saitama got serious and finished the fight.

My point is, if someone would be strong enough to defeat Saitama, and he would be "the bad guy" then the Earth (potentially the whole Universe) is screwed.
On the other side, if he would be "the good guy" (let's say Blast is that strong), then he has no reason to kill Saitama in the first place.

I got the impression, especially during the Boros fight, that Boros was actually the hero we were supposed to root for, he was certainly the underdog and the "I will defeat you" stuff, especially with the music, gave me that impression. I notice when I search it to see it again, I search for "Boros vs Saitama" - but normally I'd search "[good guy] vs [bad guy]".
Obviously Saitama is a good guy, it's just interesting that he's never gonna be the underdog

Saitama wants to be a hero, but according to his own definition of what a hero is, it's physically impossible for him to be one. He sees heroes people who risks their lives for others. This is why easy victories upset him, not because he's like Boros or saiyans who seek battle for its own sake.

Do you think the same of Mob Psycho 100? You can tell whether the webcomic is being serious or not. ONE uses more detail, dark shading, etc. to indicate whether a scene is meant to be interpreted as being serious. In fact, the shift in tone between serious and comedic scenes adds to the humor.
All the business involving the HA. Dramatic moments like Licenseless Rider's sacrafice, Boros last words, Garou wrecking most of the S class heroes his whole Hero Hunt shit etc. Several plot threads. All examples of serious attempts at story telling in the series.
