Honestly Kill la Kill was good dumb fun, just monstrously overhyped on account of the Aniplex marketing factor and MALtards. It's a shame it has to suffer so much hype backlash now for it. It was never supposed to be anything more than just a harkening back to good old fashioned hot blooded action, guts and fun yet somehow people seem to have completely missed the point and treat it like something far more than it ever intended to be.

Ninja slayer was completely horrible. How did that even air outside of web animations? Being "ironically" bad worked for inferno cop because it was short, didn't have any advertising, and published on the web. Ninja slayer was way too long for what it was.

Whoops lets try that again without accidentally clicking auto. Yeah my one work buddy who I would describe as normie (great guy btw) in terms of anime taste was really pumped up for KLK but ended up disappointed and dropping it part way through cause he was put off by all the "pervy" fanservice and it just kind of being zany balls to the walls goofiness without any sort of extended plot narrative, character arcs or dramas to sink his teeth into.
Really when you look at the structure of the show it has a lot of visual style but material wise it just kind of feels like the kind of stuff you'd normally see from a shonen action anime trimmed down in scope to fit a 24 episode format. Albeit we weren't really getting as much of that sort of stuff in 2013 like we are again now because anime took a hard detour into "smart" SoL/Dialogue driven anime territory for a little while there. Also not that there's anything wrong with what it is, but it really doesn't do anything particularly remarkable at the end of the day, it's final arcs are highly predictable to a fault (You knew Satsuki wasn't going to be an antagonist forever, that it'd be her mother as the final boss, that they were sisters and what the connection between it all would end up being pretty much before the halfway mark of the show even hit), and it kind of falls into that 7/10 kind of category as a TV show at the end of the day.
