I think it was... Powerful? I identified with Punpun in ways that I don't like to admit. Not the murder stuff or the family stuff, but the way he (mis)handles relationships really forced me to take another look at myself. I think I'm still digesting the ending.

>>
>>137161301
Punpun often makes poor decisions and he acts in a self-destructive way. When people try to lend him a helping hand he often pushes them away, ignores them, or betrays their expectations. A lot of his character is him pitying himself and doing little to change that; he makes some attempts to change but they usually end in failure or are started by something other than a hope to improve himself. His obsession with Aiko also influenced a lot of his behavior and decisions, but Punpun still rarely tries to do anything to fix his situation.
He's supposed to be a moderately despicable person.

And I'll be going dancing and shitting on her tomb.

Yeah, I cant see myself wanting to buy it or read it agian. Or reccomend it desu, it's just an endless sea of depression. I mean if a story makes you cry, then it can be good with Catharsis. But this was just horrible and left me feeling dead inside.

>>137166140
Literally made me feel like puking out of anger, I didnt even know such a thing was possible. Punpun was a cunt, but I wanted to protect Aiko's smile. She was the purest member of the cast aside from Pegasus.

Something magical.

>This debate came up in Punpun, too: Should manga be a diversion from reality, or a weapon to be used in it?

>Asano: What I’m shooting for this time is the former, one hundred percent. Reality is tough, so read this manga about cute girls and feel better. I realized how important that is after watching K-On! (laugh) Girls having fun is cute, and cute is something that needs no explanation — that’s what’s so great about it. That’s all I need, I’ve decided.

You all joked when Yui said "fun things are fun", but clearly it needed to be said becuase some people didnt seem to realize that before hearing her sagelike words.

I dont like that. I found Punpun soulcrushing and I dislike it as a result. Obviously we hate things that make us feel shitty. But I dislike the idea that he cant write what he wants.

I also dont remember what this chapter is.
Also the chapters with his uncles flashbacks were shit and not needed imo.

I doubt that guy has any reason to believe what he's saying, honestly. Asano's a well-established author who can find different publishers willing to take him, and he's not trying to put this stuff in WSJ or something. He probably has very little editor censorship of that kind.

It sounds like the opposition was more about the idea of the bird and god stuff and not showing his face than about it being depressing, though. And the editor even says it could get made because he was big enough to have negotiating power.

Only retards hate tracing.
Tracing can be used for both good and bad means. Whether you render a 3d environment, then draw over it, or just draw over a background. If the end result looks better than what it would have looked like without help then who genuinely cares?

Yeah, it's one thing to use actual photographs, it's another thing to compose them really well and mesh them with his actual art.

Not to mention the fact that photography itself can be an art and that Asano is most definitely a photographer. Guy has literal thousands of photographs he takes around the country just for making a manga. I mean I'm sure he didn't take every single one of them, but still, that's impressive.
