Does it really matter? The guy who directed Monster directed Black Bullet. There are many people who have worked on one thing that was good and another that was awful. Also both SAO and Boku Dake ga Inai Machi are adaptations, so it takes some of the burden of the plot away from the staff. And anyway, its not like I think the direction on that show is anything stellar.

TTGL is only enjoyable if its your first super robot mecha. Otherwise it just comes off as boring cliche garbage. You can pretty much guess at what happens in the beginning of each arc.
