Togashi gets his because Jump overworked him like crazy during YYH, and he managed to get himself a contract that lets him do whatever he wants now. It's not really that hard. You just have to remember the 30 something different ways to close the game and try to combine your tiles to combine the most of them together, or trying to go for the most powerful. Or going for a series of quick, low score, victories to close the game as fast as you can while you're in the lead.
There's also the simple part about knowing what tiles have already been played, and risk management on deciding wether to use someone else discard or not to make a combination, since it stops you to use a lot of finishing combinations.
Then there is the simple part about the minipoints.
And of course, probability and hoping the tile you need is not in the untouchable wall.
And of course, there's the part about reading the opponent discarded tiles to guess what they have in their hand and how they are trying to win.
Also, if you play with IRL friends, which is great, you learn their playstiles, their favourite combinations and their tics, so you can factor that in too.
Easy, see.
