I'm watching it right now, up to episode 8.

These kids really need to fuck off, otherwise - it started out rough but I've loved everything since he's gotten aboard the Gekko ship.

Except for the kids.
>>
>>136326512
One of the reasons the kids are kind of there as a reference marker for Renton's own maturation - he starts of as not much different from them.

But lots of people hate them.

>>
>>136327017
I played the first one on PS2, the control was pretty clunky, there's some sort of delayed response between when you pushed the button and the actual execution..
although I'm guessing this is on purpose cause when you're controlling Nirvash much later on (during final fight) it has an almost instantaneous response.. different LFO different response time I guess.

the ending was weird for me though. they kiss and then epilogue, nowhere to be found but theres a heart on the moon. are they on the moon or traveling the world or dead? and it also implied they switch dna like the MC becomes an alien and the feMC becomes human but I don't know cause they dont fuckign show anything. I would watch the second season, but anons says its a parallel world and they only show up once. but seeing one of the kid dress up as the MC was cute as fuck and they are with grandpa which is even cuter, oh, and they don't show what happened to everybody else

There are only 2 things I disliked about Eureka Seven. What was the point of the question limitation pseudoscience? Why is there an arbitrary limit on how many sentient lifeforms can exist and why are they all conveniently located on Earth? Where did the scub coral come from and how/why did it come to the planet? I understand the environmental message of living in harmony with the coral but the question limit seems tacked on to justify the environmental message without having a justification for itself.

And the second thing is those meddling kids.

Almost all of the episode names are a reference to a band/musical act, starting with Blue Monday, which references New Order who seems to have the most references in the show which ended with the weird episode 51 special + booklet which was titled "Eureka Seven: New Order". You can see them here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Eureka_Seven_episodes

Then there are a bunch of separate musical influences such as Ray and Charles, the military base they camped at being called FAC-51 (New Order's record label, or even past music basically every Gekkostate member is based off of something from that 60-80s era of "cool", which is displayed in the way they dress.

There is a shit ton of homage in it and it's part of the reason why they surf as oppose to fight like normal mechs and this has a soundtrack that is fairly unorthodox for an anime (lots of shoegaze and house influence).

>>136329481
The use of the soundtrack in general was pretty great. https://youtu.be/5T9Yygju9IY
>>
>>136329042
You can infer a good bit of backstory for Anemone if you remember the bits from Dominic's trip to Warsaw. Dominic didn't get much, though.

I really liked the two of them anyway. By the final stretch of the series I felt snubbed because I wished they'd gotten more scenes throughout the show.

Its one of my favourite shows. I rewatched it recently cause I was feeling down and it brought me right back up.

Comfy as all fuck. You seriously felt like you were part of the Gekko crew, and they were all so family like. Every character had their own role to play in shaping Renton. Honestly, that in itself made up for any plot inconsistencies for me.

Music is fantastic. Both soundtracks are worth a download, and the music direction in the show is phenomenal.

Artstyle and character designs were unique and fun at the time.

Plot is alright, but people need to understand that the focus of the show was Renting himself as a character, not the corallion.

Overall an amazingly fun piece to watch, and I'd be willing to watch it again.

On a side note though, was AO actually as bad as people say? Ive dropped it after the first episode three times already because I didn't want to go through any of that suffering.

No the series wasn't bad, but the ending was rushed, didn't resolve the plot and above all was such a punch in the dick for the characters that E7's happy ending now feels hollow.

Everything up to that point was actually kind of fun and AO's voice actor was fucking great.

Nice revisionism.
AO was both a bad sequel AND a bad show. Its characters were largely uninspired (can you name one thing the adult characters did? At all?), the "mysteries" were hamfisted and unfulfilling, the villain was a literal joke, even the mech fights weren't really all that impressive after the first couple. It just felt like another generic Bones/Sunrise mecha show of the year, now with added bonus on shitting something actually creative and original.

I guess MILF Eureka was good though, I'll give you that.

>The script for this special was first performed in 2006 at a Sony Music Festival by the original Japanese voice actors. According to the producers, the special was initially meant to be the original ending of the series, however, due to the positive ratings from fans, the popularity of the love story between Renton and Eureka, and how much the actors got into the series, they decided to change the ending into a happy one around the conclusion of season two. In March of 2012, Studio BONES decided to put existing footage of the series into an audio of the original script of the special and air it for the first time on television. Although the special was positively acclaimed by anime critics, it received mixed reactions from fans, who felt it was a sad and yet touching ending.

Eureka seven was the latest I've dropped an anime. With the literal fart humor, bull shit soccer episode, boring character, PAINFULLY forced romance, and all of the other shit, I'm surprised I didn't drop it sooner. What made me eventually drop it was that one scene where Holland got shot down 300 feet into the air, and had his LFO explode. Then by the end of the episode he's SOMEHOW unharmed, and his LFO is barely damaged. What the actual fuck?
