You'll struggle to find a LN that isn't translated into chink like a month after the LN publishes. They get a lot more official LN translations too.

There just isn't a large English translation community for LNs. When one of the handful of people who does translate them decides to drop what they are working on, it tends to stay dropped. That being said, supposedly Mahouka is still being slowly worked on somewhere. We've gotten one more volume since it was licensed and there are promises of another soon.

Sadly English speaking countries are full of themselves being in the number 1 position, so there is fuck all in the way of skill base.
Not to say we don't have heavy hitters, but for the ten strong LN translating websites we got, China destroys that number, + other countries have feverish passion groups since they've always had to translate.
Even in the chinese - english translating community there are only networks of 3 to 12 people per web / light novel, with hardly any competitive groups between them that would speed up the process + quality.
Look at Eng subbing, it's gone to fucking shit in the last 3 years.
