Of course there are, but one of the fundamental things that makes Shirou Shirou is the fire. It's one of the first things that you see when you start up FSN; him reminiscing about the event.
You don't see extensively into his past before that, because that's really when Shirou was born. The kid before that died in that fire, and someone different came out of it.
It speaks volumes when Hiroyama changes such a core thing about him, while still trying to pretend that this is the same character.

However he gave up his justice for his sister and made a promise to his soul that he would save her, so saving Miyu has to come first.

He still is going to save Sakura who saved his ass in this chapter eventually as well, if its possible. There's struggle in the choices he made in HF. Shirou had an ideal that was ingrained in him from his father, someone he saw as absolute perfection. He didn't learn that he was screwy, or a cold blooded murderer, he was a Hero of Justice, this drives Shirou so much, that in two routes, he goes on to follow in his dad's footsteps.
In HF though, he's faced with going against his ideals, and also learns some darker truths about his dad, and so there's a whole emotional bag of stuff going on, with him having to rethink life choices that he had for years, and think his thoughts on people he thought he knew.
This Shirou saw Kerry up front from basically the first time meeting him. He's not the peak of an ideal, he's a man with faults, so there's no way that would lead to the fervent belief in being a hero that FSN Shirou had, so when the time comes to pick between his ideals and the life of someone, the life of someone is obvious.
Doubly obvious when there's no immediate danger. That's another thing about HF. There's always a ticking clock, with news reports about people dying, and the danger ramping up. In Miyu's world, there's some vague threat that the world is dying, but it's not gonna happen for years.

She enhances Kuzuki with her magic to the point that he can stand up to Saber, however briefly, despite the fact that Kuzuki is effectively a normalfag.
Shirou with his projections is already on par with enhanced Kuzuki. Enhance him further with her magic, and he starts getting to be a respectable tank for Caster. Shirou hard counters Gil, so no need to worry about him, and Medea has all the down-low on Berserker, so that generally keeps him out of the way. Their biggest challenges would be Lancer, then Archer.
