Well appparently lower vamppires can turn into demons aswell, but apparently they are simply no goood, that is why Kureto was showing Gurren oone of his little experiments.

This demon soomehow got to posses Mahiru and Shinoas's mother.
In some kinda strangeway Mahiru directly inherited Asura and Shinoa was born with a different demon (this is actually a really strange part that would make Shinoa really special as it practically created something new).

I'm still of the opinion it's not necessarily a demon in the traditional sense. Most demons in OnS seem to vampires that through some process got turned into demons but still retain most of their features, also while having traditional names associated with random things generally their name while alive. Abaddon has a biblical name and is an insectoid monster. I think Abaddon is more the literal fallen angel type of demon and is a sort of corrupted version of the Seraph and the naming thing is just a metaphor. Also, I may be wrong here as I don't have the episode on me to check, but I believe they use the term "Akuma" for Abaddon and "Oni" for normal demons, Akuma meaning closer to devil and Oni meaning a sort of evil spirit.

I'd say it's something like a fallen angel, basically something that happens when humans try to control it. Potentially all of the seraphs have an equivalent thing like that. Abaddon is the name of an angel so it could also be the actual name of Mirai's seraph and their just calling it a demon since it's being controlled by them. I wouldn't think too deeply into it besides it being a corrupted version of an angel.

Abaddon = akuma = devil/evil creature
Abaddon is a different being that was summoned when Mirai blew the trumpet. In that fight there were both the seraph (Mirai) and akuma (Abaddon). When they referred to Abaddon, they would call it Horobi no Akuma. For example, when Aoi told it to attack Yuu. When they talked about controlling or transporting Mirai herself, they used tenshi (angel/seraph).

If it follows the original seven trumpets reference closely, there won't be more beings like Abaddon. and that thing is a creature summoned from a different dimension. Yuu for instance doesn't seem to have one. When he blows the trumpet, the King takes over his body. No creature is summoned. Mirai's seraph on the other hand, talks through her body, but also wakes Abaddon. That's what her power as seraph probably is, a summoner who controls that beast.

Kureto specifically told them to feed Abaddon when it appeared and they only used the beast to attack, never addressing Mirai again. They knew exactly what was going to happen when she blew the trumpet, all those sacrifices were for that. It wasn't a side-effect, it was their desired reaction. JIDA seems to be informed about each trumpet's power, as seen by how easily they recognized Yuu even though it wasn't their experiment.

Them drugging, experimenting and controlling her, made her blow the trumpet which in turn made Abaddon appear. I don't think the beast is the result of drugs or anything like it, though. I really think it's her trumpet's power and if someone else was the fifth trumpet, the power would be the same for them. Now where exactly trumpets come from and why do these kids have them... That's what I really would like to know. I've heard of the seraph gene, but it looks like there's only seven trumpets, so not everyone with the gene has a trumpet. What are they?
