That would have been a terrible and unsatisfying duel. Yugi wouldn't be able to use as many cards or pull off as many combos. Hiding most of Yugi's hand wouldn't work. The fact that Yugi has several cards in his hands that he isn't using would give it away, as well as giving Atem a huge card advantage that would make writing the duel hard.
