So now that all the first episodes are out, what looks most likely to be AotS? Shouwa Rakugo looks like the most sophisticated and "patrician" offering this season, and it's certainly good, but I think lesbian loli robots might better serve what I consider the purpose of an anime, which is to make me feel happy for twenty minutes per week.

In terms of pure fun, Pandora and Konosuba are going to be great. I haven't watched the leak of the latter, but it's probably going to get the shit end of the budget stick since DEEN is doing so much else this season. That aside, the source is great and the staff is good too, so it'll probably be really good other than the QUALITY animation and somewhat lacking character designs.
Dimension W should be good for an action show. Grimgar also had a pretty nice first episode. We've also got URW2 contniuing from last season and switching over into wartime second act, which leaves me a little sad, but it should still be good.

Shoujo-tachi has by far the most premise to become great so far
So I just watched Boku Date because people were talking about it, and that's not a good show to watch right before bed.
Dimension W looks like the sort of classic that in a few years is way over-hyped and people react and say it wasn't really that good, but really it was pretty good.
Shouwa Rakugo looks like the sort of show that will be good but elitists will hype up way better than it is for no reason.
Koukaku no Pandora will be the kind of show that people enjoy and occasionally look back on fondly, but nobody makes a big deal about afterward.
Other shows this season aren't likely to be memorable, although Boku Dake has the potential to be picked up by 2deep4u plebs depending on where it goes.

What did people like about the first episode?
Now I like the setting and everything. But the first episode did pretty much nothing beyond establishing the basics of the premise over the period of twenty minutes.
The episode ends where it starts. And it never established anything beyond the most basic of introductions. I can tell you that you can jump straight to episode two without even watching episode one and you won't miss out.

Looking like a very strong season so far. I still plan on watching Grimgar just haven't felt in the mood. Even at this rate, 7 solid shows will make for a very enjoyable anime season. Glad all the pleasant surprises helped mitigate the initial disappointment of Haruchika.
Sekkou Boys is fucking brilliant. Rakugo has potential to be an instant classic. Bubuki and Pandora make me feel like a kid again. This is a good anime season, so far it might be the best season since Spring 2014.

I don't see the problem with the character design. It's typical of modern anime for youngsters (it kinda reminds me of Code Lyoko, a French TV anime) with the costumes in the virtual world. It's flashy, but it's on par with the rebellious and punkish spirit of youngsters who have been given powerful weapons. And that way, we have clear-cut designs and no sameface syndrome.
