I usually watch a 12 episode show in one or two sittings, I don't like following "live" stuff because sometimes I REALLY want to see what happens next when I'm into it, and then by the time next week rolls around, I'm already distracted with something else and don't get around to it; unless of course it's something I'm really into, then I'll get the new episode the second it gets subbed, but that's like a very small minority of stuff even when I used to follow things 'live', I don't think I enjoyed railgun and index enough to have followed it weekly, it was moderately enjoyable, and having a LOT of it on hand to binge on was nice; so I kind of don't want to ruin Heavy Object by not giving it that benefit.
I mean really; when you have the whole show there, it's easy to lower your standards and enjoy rather than making a conscious effort to remember to get it every week (as well as the continual battle to justify to yourself the act of doing so).

This isn't really an Index thread but the sales are down. However because sales for the entire anime/manga/LN overall are down hard to know if it is enough to want to commission another season or if talks plans might already be happening. They do not want to only come out with a series when the franchise is already run into the ground as people might not come back. Also because Kamchi writes as quickly as he does the books are so far ahead of the series that normal LN rules might not apply.
The LNs are so far ahead anime might not actually promote the current sales so won't ever bother.
The LNs come out so fast that the hold up isn't Index series but the railgun manga which comes out at a more normal pace. As they alternate and might add Accelerator into the mix taking a break helps them so they won't have to have filler for railgun which was not as well received.
