Well, it could be remade soon. Considering the anime is nearing it's 10th anniversary, and with this new Higurashi stuff (the new Pachislot, the game from last year, this Live-Action TV adaptation) it is pretty evident Higurashi is still a thing in Japan.
Who knows, maybe in a few months we'll see an announcement for an all new Higurashi remake by ufotable or Madhouse.
Just give me an excuse to view mai waifu again.

Higurashi is 15 fucking years old now though. It's probably ending soon. And I can't imagine their being an anime remake. It isn't popular enough for that anymore.
Also the Pachislot was just there to show the downfall of the company who did the PS version.
Unless for some really strange reason this live action adaption is a success and brings new fans to the franchise that already lost most of it's fans 6 years ago I really can't see it.
