I desire to watch the entire Monogatari series, starting with Baka today, is it a worthwhile investment? Mostly because there isn't much this season and I decided I want to watch Kizumonogatari but of course that seems like a retarded idea without watching the others...
Even though it's a prequel from what I understand it still seems like it's the last in the series that should be watched.
Am I doing the right thing?
The monogatari series is good if you understand that it's a pseudophilosophical harem with heavy emphasis on fanservice and dialogue. Even though the plot would make you think it's an action show (part-Vampire high school student fights monsters and ghosts), most of the budget goes towards creating avant garde scenery, unique OP/ED (everyone gets one) and panty shots.
With that in mind;
1) The fanservice is phenomanal
2) The scenery is gorgeous
3) When the action shows up, it's bretty good : D
If you're cool with all that, I say watch the whole thing you faggot.
You made me chuckle, OP.
The show is god-tier. The only people I know who don't like it are autistic faggots who can't read fast and only like moeblob circlejerking.
1. Great art and story
3. Toothbrushes (you'll get that one next season m8)
>The only people I know who don't like it are autistic faggots who can't read fast and only like moeblob circlejerking
Correct. The series is good, OP, and you should watch it in airing order, as always.
You haven't watched it but you're already posting best girl so you're no baka to me senpai.
He's right. There's literally nothing worth watching.
Watch in production order.
You'll very likely breeze through Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari. Monogatari Season Second sucks for the most part, but Kaiki's arc is fucking God-Tier.
Hanamonogatari is quite boring.
Tsukimonogatari was good.
Owarimonogatari starts off very slow, but it picks up fast by episode 5.
I want ask Nisio Isin how he manages to make his side-characters so good, but the protagonists so bad. Rrrgi is alright as a protag, but when the girls are the center of attention they get boring as fuck. It's like they put up a show for KoyoKoyo or something; they are only interesting around him.
Yeah, it's good. So long as you're not watching it for the things /a/ claims to like in anime*.
As ever, production order. Bake- is first.
(*like, there's tits, there's lots of tits. But you shouldn't be watching this *for* tits. There are also many potential waifus and the occasional cool-looking fight, but if that's why you're watching this, you're going to be bored.)
Anon, you need glasses, the girl in the pic is not crab.
Watch it in the order it aired/was released.
That is, Bake, Nise, Neko, Second Season , Hana, Tsuki, Owari.
I started the whole thing last month and finished recently and it is probably the most consistent and constant-high-quality set of stories narrated by anime.
You'll love the characters and their development aswell. Also their haircuts.
The only ones who don't get the beauty of monogatari are the sperging kyoani drones. Give them no regard.
>That monkey girl interacting with Kanbaru was pretty boring.
I thought it was pretty interesting, I liked their dynamic, so we're just on a different page here.
The fanservice I don't really give a shit about and besides, Hana had Kaiki, so that trumps fanservice.
Bakemonogatari -> Nisemonogatari -> Nekomonogatari: Kuro -> Monogatari Series Second Season -> Hanamonogatari -> Tsukimonogatari -> Owarimonogatari
Watch it in airing order. I'm going to read/watch Kizu after Owari. Should I be watching koyomimongartardi after Kizu?
Do it OP, it's gureat.
I too have decided to watch the entire thing also. When I see a season where nothing appeals I look backwards and reassess things.
Nearly pissed myself laughing that on wikipedia it's categorised as "Avant-garde", which one of you did that?
Oh you. I may not have watched it but I lurked long enough in threads to pique my interests 6 years later.
I can't wait to see the thought provoking context behind the infamous teeth brushing and loli molesting.
Don't get me wrong, I like the series, but it could definitely do without the fan service and the crap you mentioned. Some of that is done for comedic reasons, but really the show would be better served to just drop the pandering. It probably wouldn't sell as well without it though, so it's not going to happen.
It's a joke you numpty.
With my partial knowledge I got Hanekawa confused with at least two other characters and thought Araragi only had one sister.
Also, best tooth brushing scene is in my image.
I'm excited to find out why Purple Hair Long Legs is a bitch too.
A cat fag that doesn't even recommend watching cat at her best.
Before you start watching, just be warned that Purple Hair Long Legs is best girl.
I have no issues with cat and consider her second or third I just needed some way to insult him
Bake is a masterpiece so enjoy it while it lasts, rest ranges from alright to garbage with the exception of last arc in SS which might be the best in the series
Nise is a lowkey masterpiece
I don't disagree, and you've even posted a screencap from a good scene, but you're acting like a retard who is only in it for the loli fanservice.
There is plenty of shit to watch this season, family
AotS for a second year in a row
HEAVY OBJECTand Musaigen no Phantom Worldare fucking phenomenal.
>musaigen no phantom magic-highschool-harem-of-the-season
please tell me this is a troll
>literally regurgitating leddit opinions of the season
Hi ledditors! Hope your invasion of /a/ is going well!
Don't forget to watch Ore Monogatari and Katanamonogatari after Bake OP!
>Breeze through Nisemonogatari
>Monogatari Season Second sucks for the most part
Does such taste really exist? Nisemonogatari was terrible. Second season was amazing as a whole.
Nise a stronk
Cat, Crab's and Snake's arcs were boring as fuck. Snail and Kaiki were really good, but most of it wasn't. The only good thing that came out of Snake's arc was Delusion Express.
Just remember that Crab is best girl, Snake should be put on the curb on Wednesday morning to be taken away by the garbage truck, and Shinobu is Shinobu is daughteridoo of the year all years
nise, while maybe not as strong as the other seasons, is still plenty interesting when viewed as an overarching discussion on the topic of "fake vs real". And it provides some deeper character development while also introducing one of the most interesting characters in the series(kaiki)
>we will finally see Hachikuji back in the next season
I'm happy lads.
Somewhat off topic, but do you guys write down the lessons and themes you learn from anime (and I guess other media) for future reference? There's a lot of stuff in monogatari that i'd like to save but I never get it written down somewhere. I'm slowly forgetting all that shit and I think I'm going to have to rewatch the whole damn thing soon.
Like others have said Kaiki's arc in second season is amazing
The first episode of Koyomimonogatari was pretty good.
Can't wait for second cour of Owarimonogatari for
Mayoi Hellas well as ZokuOwari.
Hopefully Kizumonogatari: Tekketsu-hen gets subbed and released soon. There are no local showings anywhere here.
I liked her implied cat ears/boobs this episode. she sounded really different from owari cat, but maybe it was just me
>Musaigen no Phantom World
I'm even happier now. Thanks anon.
