Here's the thing, you're implying that Love Live is a worse copy of K-on just because of the similar story lines and setting. This view, however, just goes to show how uneducated and naive you are in the world of anime, unlike myself, who has been shitposting on /a/ since 2004. The quality of an anime is not determined by it's similarity to another show, in fact, any good content ever made has been plaigiarism of some kind and has been the foundation of our society since the dawn of civilization.
But i digress, what makes Love Live truly superior to K-on is the much more intricate writing character (not to mention a bigger and more relatable cast). The character development is deeper and more interesting overall to someone who truly understands the artistic value of the show. Finally, the music used has way better taste and fits in the theme much better overall.
