Kara no Kyoukai is the most painfully Nasu of all the three. What it lacks in godawful shoehorned comedy scenes, it more than makes up in absolutely meaningless juvenile circle-talking about philosophy and semantics. In my opinion Kara no Kyoukai fails at what it tries to be while FSN and Tsukihime succeed. Tsukihime and Fate pull off the magic harem for otaku pretty well, while KnK is far more ambitious. The problem is that Nasu is an otaku to the bone, he can't write anything more thought-provoking than Tsukihime and Fate. But that doesn't stop KnK from working on easily impressed youtube and MAL reviewers. Slap a dark color palette and have the characters talk in circles about stuff that sounds fancy but has no substance, and you have yourself a hidden gem for intelligent anime watchers like KnK.

It really isn't tbqh. Let's be fair, the only things Tsukihime does better is not flooding you with infodumps at the start, and the creepy moments (better than any in HF). Oh, and Eclipse >>> Last Epishit.
Otherwise... it has an incomparably worse protagonist (as a character, you might still find him more entertaining), a generally shallower cast, wasted characters/plotlines (Nero, Sachiin), and a much, much weaker climax/final route (the story peaked at the end of Hisui's). Not even gonna mention the art/music.
It's still a very good VN and an essential classic for Type-Moon, but Fate was a definitive improvement in almost every way. We already know the remake fixes some of these issues, so let's hope they go all out to make it their best VN yet.
