Before I ever really started to read it, friend once told me "it has something to do with a Stone Mask, but there's a whole lot more to it than that". So combining that with what I saw, I assumed Stardust Crusaders was the whole story and that it was a long, long, LONG manga about these five guys and a dog traveling across the entire world looking for the fabled "Stone Mask" and meeting a shitton of weird people on the way. Like a seriously twisted version of One Piece.
On top of that, the only other thing I can think of is that I thought the Pillar Men were just some really odd humans who showed up every now and again to cause some hilarious chaos, Jotaro and Jolyne were a couple, Kakyoin was a total freak that constantly did weird and gross shit, and Iggy was nothing but a goofy idiot that kept getting in trouble while Polnareff was the serious one (as it turns out it was the other way around).
I was surprised when at the end of Phantom Blood the Stone Mask is actually destroyed. I found myself thinking "what the hell? did the series really just end? what about the Japanese banchou asshole and the freaky guy with pink hair who does wrong things with cherries?"

I first heard of JoJo in an article in the American Shounen Jump, which mistakenly said that the Stone Mask was an ancient Aztecian artifact that gave people Stands, never mentioned vampires or Ripple.
I didn't really know about Jotaro, nor Araki's increasingly-flamboyant artystyle, but the article gave a summary of every part and mentions that Jolyne is the Part 6 JoJo and that it takes place in a women's prison.

When I bought the first two Steel Ball Run volumes a long time ago, before knowing anything about JoJo I didn't like it. I see a lot of people hate on the recent Part 4 PV. How many of us here actually like it? I appreciate that they're taking creative risks with the artstyle (like Part 1 and 2 animes did), instead of just give us a boring 1 for 1 adaption of the manga like they did with Part 3.
Only thing that makes me skeptical is that it has same crew as the part 3 anime, I feel like the first two parts overall had way better direction in their anime adaptions. Compare DavePro and OVA Part 3, direction goes a long way.

I just had a lot less fun watching Part 3 than I did reading it. I think it's because they really fucked up the pacing of the individual fights, it really seemed to crawl along and the high points weren't as tense and thrilling. I always considered JoJo to be kind of thriller manga, its best fights leave on the edge of your seat, and it just wasn't there for Part 3. They also didn't do as much fun stuff, like as much of the flamboyant color shifts or as much focus on the goofy elements or high-energy music.
I also think the soundtrack has a lot to do with it. Part 2 adaption had everything, from dubstep to rap to opera. Meanwhile Jotaro's "I'm kicking some ass with Oras" theme was so played out it felt like beating a dead horse, and only a few other tracks were interesting and barely played.

In terms of pacing, I don't see how they could've done it much differently. It would've started to feel rushed if they wrapped up every fight in just one episode. And yeah, the style is a bit on the bland side I suppose, but then again, it makes part 2 a bit more unique.
I completely agree about the music though. The entire soundtrack is fucking huge, so it's a shame how it's pretty much just "stardustcrusaders.mp3" playing 90% of the time they beat someone. The ambient stuff was pretty good though.

I think I noticed this when, even in the good non-quality shots, The World just looks so... flat. I could never quite put my finger on way, but it might just be the line art. Like, The World was a motherfucker in the manga, and even when he's technically drawn correct in the anime, he just looks so unintimidating. The lack of tension or movement in the art is horrible once you notice it. You know how some artists can get even little chibi sketches looking full of energy and movement? That is exactly the skill the david "artists" lack. Everything seems like it has been rushed by korean slave labour interns as opposed to keyframe artists. Who even does their keyframes? Araki's signature style is kinda floaty and anatomically nonsense, limbs barely attached, but its also surprisingly dynamic

I played the capcom fightan game first, and I thought this was like the whole series. I thought Jotaro was like 35 during part 3.
