Not really. Mononoke had some unsettling moments. Japanese horror is a strange beast to begin with, but it would seem it doesn't work very well with anime. Most "horror" series feel pretty cringe or just aren't scary at all, unfortunately.
Ghost in the Shell: Innocence had some disturbing moments though, pic related. It would be interesting if Oshii made a pure horror film.

Probably the only thing anime/manga/VN/LN related to actually scare the shit out of me (even though I knew it was coming). The scenes and arc directly after it were really unsettling and depressing to read directly after it too.

Its was the only one that could scare me then, when I was a little kitty of twelve years old:Higurashi no naku koro ni. Yeah, Yeah, I know. The adaptation wasn't very good and the animation either, but my God that was scary for me in those days. Back then I wasn't used to that kind of stories, and it hit me like a thunderbolt. The music was very good, and the opening and ending are engraved in my memory, and the characters were so good too. I immediately become a fan of Ryukishi, that old bastard, I love that guy. Now nothing can scare me. I'm so used now that I don't feel nothing anymore... I would love to feel that sensation again.

For some strange reason, I didn't mind the eyes. It was the sudden change of attitude and the tone of the voices of the character what scared me the most. The atmosphere was incredible, and the music just made things even worse and more terrifying. The change from the happy games of the club to the psychotic laughs and the insanity was awesome.

Horror video games are the worst (in a good way). With movies or anime you can shut them out to a degree, but the level of interactivity in games these days basically forces you to be invested in the setting, meaning you'll be scared shitless by the slightest jumpscare

Muv-Luv contains Extra and Unlimited, which are the first 2 parts of the trilogy. They're necessary to read through to fully appreciate Alternative as a lot of events, characters, and specific lines are referenced in Alternative. I still enjoyed Extra (the high school part) though. Lacrosse was the only really boring part, and even the characters themselves draw reference to it being boring. The rest was genuinely entertaining to me. Think of a lot of it in Extra as a fun self-parody eroge since it's basically taking a lot of anime/manga/LN/VN motifs and cranking them up to 11.

Silent Hill 2 excluding others is only one I can really think of. The game doesn't really have jumpscares so the strange and unnerving atmosphere is build using other tricks.Either you haven't played it or have a pretty shit taste. It might be you're also one of those super adult "horror isn't scary" types, which means you just lack the required mindset for optimal immersion, which is a really shit quality when playing/watching horror. In that case nothing can help you, really.

Agree, your movies are good examples and rest of the Silent Hills lack good qualities. Lynch is pretty neat and SH2 has the same vibes, the pc version isn't that bad so give it a go.Carpenter's Thing is probably my favorite movie and the ending scene of Inland Empire is still one of the scariest scenes I've seen in a movie.
