If I had to pinpoint 1 specific thing that makes FMP better than average, it's definitely Sousuke. I don't even need time to think about it. Chidori being tsundere is simply a highly efficient way to have her cover the tsukkomi role in comedy episodes while developing a romance. She may not be astoundingly original but the way she's utilized is still smart writing.
