OP of the volume 8 spoiler thread here, I was planning on making a thread Wednesday to post some more spoilers but doing it early is fine too.
First off a bit of news, I previously reported that the site that hosted the Chinese translations had shut down. Turns out that this appears to not be the case. Now onto the actual spoilers, so read on if you want to. More specific this time since we have a few chapters from the actual novel now.Volume starts with a prologue depicted Kazuma and Aqua watching over the festival. Makes Kazuma feel very nostalgic since it reminds him of the ones in Japan. Prologue ends with Aqua turning to him, sincerely thanking him and giving an innocent smile.
First chapter starts off from where 7 ended. With Chris frozen after accidentally answering to the name Eris, in a cafe with Kazuma. There's a brief overview on the events of volume 7, specifically talking about how the Landlord disappeared and the status of Darkness' father.
Chris at first tries to deny being Eris, but Kazuma casually breaks down his logic. Chris then gives up and admits she's Eris, changes her expression to match her Goddess appearance when she sits down confirming Kazuma's suspicions.
Kazuma then goes on a little ramble about how it was kind of unexpected due to the personality differences, and starts apologizing for stuff like stealing her panties and his other acts of sexual harassment. Eris responds by telling him to shut up and she pounds on the table while blushing.
Conversation move on to cover topics like Darkness (and Eris begging Kazuma not to tell her that she's a goddess), and the artifacts left behind by previous cheaters. Also a nice scene where Kazuma is confused about which personality is the real one, and Eris teasing him by asking which one he likes more, Chris or Eris. Leads to Kazuma rambling and Eris throwing a salt shaker at him.
Conversation moves onto Eris asking for Kazuma's help with retrieving the artifacts. Kazuma refuses since he (understandably) doesn't want anything to do with those. Eris then pleads with him with a sad expression on her face (kind of like the one she uses when he first died), and the part ends with Kazuma thinking that was unfair.

Next part of the spoilers.Starts off with a meeting in the mansion, with Wiz and Vanir there about the financial situation. Talks about the intellectual property, and stuff due to Kazuma using most of the money to save Darkness (also Aqua spent a lot to buy a "dragon emperor" egg.) Vanir ends up getting pounced on by everyone, due to his role in getting Darkness' father cursed.
Next part starts off with Kazuma accompanying Megumin in her daily explosion routine. Megumin talks about how Darkness can't leave easily like before due to her owing them. States that she likes Kazuma due to his nature of complaining a lot but still helping them in the end. Kazuma talks about how she shouldn't say those kind of things because they will make misunderstandings. Megumin basically tells him to figure it out himself and laughs.
Kazuma then basically starts to do a confession (mostly due to some silly logic making him think the chances of being rejected were low), but it gets interrupted by Megumin's explosion.
Part 4 starts with Kazuma piggybacking Megumin and her acting like a dense harem MC asking what he was saying because she couldn't hear him (due to the explosion). With Kazuma acting like a tsundere and saying he didn't say anything at all. Conversation about pudding but it stops when they open the door.
They walk in on Aqua and Vanir having a standoff, with the creature from the egg in between them having hatched (it looks like a chick). Darkness and Wiz were taken out in the crossfire between them (Darkness hit with a magic bullet, and Wiz being used as Vanir's shield). Vanir basically saying it was self-defense due to Aqua, and how today was the day marking Zell emperor's birth.
Part 5 is a chat about the newly born bird, first thing it sees are recognized as its parents and those happened to be Aqua and Vanir. They continue fighting over the bird. Vanir eventually escapes (the bird wouldn't leave him) by splitting in two.

Last parts of the first chapter. (accidentally messed up the spoiler, so he's take 2)Part 6 has gushing about Zell and a lot of banter for the most part; pretty short overall. Chris/Eris knocks on the door leading to part 7.
Part 7 has Chris asking the party to help her retrieve the artifacts. Darkness refuses since she has to help her father, Megumin agrees but says she will be of limited help, says her explosion magic would be helpful.
She looks at Aqua with expectations, but is flatly refused. She's too caught up adoring her new child, and she and Kazuma banter about it for a bit.
Moves on to her talking about the upcoming Eris festival. Kazuma looks to Chris about it, who looks shy while drinking tea, the idea is that they celebrate it to be given a year of peace from Eris. Kazuma glances at her for confirmation, but she shakes her head meaning the thing is pure superstition.
Aqua then gets pissed and starts talking about how it's unfair that there is no Aqua festival. Says they should end the Eris festival and run an Aqua one instead, causing Chris to spit out her tea (which Aqua ignores). Aqua goes on saying how she had to take care of Eris during her time as a Goddess.
Kazuma and Chris have a brief whisper about this.
Darkness refuses to help Aqua, Megumin agrees to help since she isn't an Eris devotee. Aqua then basically drafts Chris into helping.

It is pretty simple, but the quality only goes up in my opinion. Humor is pretty consistent and I don't think there has been any lackluster volumes so far.
But feel free to try out other LNs since there's no rush. This author is pretty great since his releases are always on a consistent schedule, even when he started writing the Megumin spin-off series (even started a short Vanir one).

Now onto chapter 2, here's a pic form the artist's twitter feed to make up for taking awhile.Chapter starts with conversation between Aqua and Kazuma about ice. Aqua gets Kazuma to help her out since Darkness refused and Megumin had to meet an acquaintance.
They go to a small church on the outskirts of town, overhear a conversation between a man and Megumin (basically sounds like a drug deal. Kazuma breaks down the door.
Part 2 starts with Kazuma basically acting like the police, starts threatening the person for trying to sell contraband to his companion. Aqua then punches him and the abdomen while Megumin is confused about what was going on.
Misunderstanding, obviously, with Aqua lecturing the person citing one of her religions laws. Moves onto part 3.

Pretty good, there's some neat scenes from Megumin's perspective during volume 1. Like how she first saw Kazuma and Aqua. There's some scenes in the main series references events that occurred in the spin-off too. So it helped make some scenes less confusing.

Moving onto part 3. For those wondering who the church characters are, I think they are Megumin's acquaintances from the spin-off, named Cecily. See pic-related.Part 3 reveals that the Axis cult know that Aqua is actually their Goddess (though volume 4 already said so too). They start planning on waging war on the Eris cult in the city to make the Aqua festival (logic being summer makes more sense for a festival for the goddess of water, which is kind of true if you think about it).
Part 4 starts with them roughing up shopkeepers in Axel who want nothing to do with the Axis cult. Kazuma tries to get Megumin to convince Cecily to stop, but she says she isn't her friend, just an acquaintance as an excuse not to get involved.
Place is very busy preparing for the festival, Kazuma is reminded of the culture festivals at school. Kazuma asks if he can persuade the shopkeepers in their stead. Kazuma whispers with the shop guy about doing a joint festival with both Aqua and Eris. Guy talks about how the annual income is getting lower due to the increase in military spending to fight against the Demon King.
Kazuma basically says that the shopkeepers can profit off of the conflict between the Eris and Aqua festivals. More talking, and basically Kazuma being a scummy business guy (I love him, best MC). Basically acts as the consultant for the festivals. The two bursts out in laughter, making the rest of the group uneasy.

The LN character designs are cute and simple, but nevertheless do a good job of conveying the characters' personalities. Megumin has this innocent, vulnerable side that shows through (remember she's only 13 at the beginning) while Aqua's innocence is more of the troublemaking and obtuse variety.

Onto the next part, if you hadn't noticed yet this is a really bloody long chapterPart 5 starts has Eris (I'm going to refer to her has this from now on) yelling in the cafe after Kazuma gives her the news. Complains at how Kazuma says he wants to avoid trouble, but is willingly helping out Aqua despite it almost certainly going to cause him trouble. He retorts that she should have explicitly rejected Aqua too. Says she can't help it since Aqua asked and she is her senpai (same thing goes with his resurrections). He starts telling her about his chat with the shopkeeper president (omitting some parts).
Talks about the joint festival, and then moves onto the artifacts. Nobility likes to collect strange things, so they have to steal it from this guy. The guy got it through illegal means, so their idea of getting Darkness to negotiate with him wouldn't work (he would just deny having it). Kazuma thinks about how the masks come in handy (I assume this is the Vanir mask from volume 7).
Part 6 starts with Darkness locking herself in the bathroom and crying; and Aqua trying to convince her to come out. I think it's because of Aqua calling her a tramp multiple times throughout this volume. Kazuma starts calling her Lalatina and she stops crying, a hammering noise is heard instead. Kazuma gives her an ultimatum (says he will make her beg) and the sound of the toilet hissing could be heard. Doesn't quite work, so Aqua moves him and she tells Darkness that Kazuma went to rummage through her room, lost in his desires; which causes Darkness to finally leave the bathroom. (Though the door is apparently barricaded with a table now). Darkness begs to be let out.
Eating dinner as a group, Kazuma talks about how he got the permission from the president.

Comment limits, the bane of my spoiling existence.Darkness comments on how good the food they are eating is. Turns out Kazuma cooked it, and has been learning cooking skills since she was taken away. Mainly learned them since he was expecting to live a life of leisure with his money.
Part 7 has Aqua away visiting the Axis church to prepare for the celebration. Starts with Kazuma and Eris in front of the noble guy's house preparing to rob it. Talks about how people are really heavy sleepers in this world.
Eris is confused about the big thing he is carrying, turns out that it is shock-absorbing material that is also soundproof. Eris is impressed.
Place is easy to infiltrate compared to the royal castle. Kazuma asks Eris why she doesn't have the night vision that Aqua has. Eris says that since her body is actually a human disguise she doesn't have her abilities as a Goddess. Unlike Aqua who actually took on a physical manifestation. On the plus side she doesn't attract the undead like Aqua does, since she lacks her godly aura.

Eris comments on how he has strange uses for magic skills. Says she hopes he'll learn serious combat skills to fight the demon king. Kazuma then finds this thing in the collection (looks like a trap thing at first) looks like an oddly shaped stone. He wants to take it back with him as a present for Aqua.
Turns out the artifact (a suit of armor) is not in the room. Secret door type of deal. Armor has no scratches, and the original owner never lost once. The guy died from an illness instead.
While they are touching the armor, a voice says "hey kid, stop touching me". Eris is surprised, the armor then realizes she's not a guy and says she can keep touching him for a little longer. Turns out the armor gained sentience.
Eris tells the armor that it will be given a new owner from Japan to help save the world. The armor refuses, says protecting someone while getting slashes is a pain. And says his handsome shining body will be hurt. Armor says it doesn't really like being full body, wants another owner to wear less on the lower body parts.
Eris tells the armor that not many girls end up being sent here, but says if any do come then she will prioritize the armor for them.
But then the armor shouts out loud that there are intruders.

Now onto the third chapter.Whole house woke up due to the armor screaming. Eris and Kazuma run away, with Kazuma agitated due to feeling like a wanted criminal.
Gets home before dawn, Aqua sees him early in the morning. Turns out neither of them slept last night (Kazuma tucked his clothing under his pajama's in a rush). Aqua says she knows why he stayed up, making Kazuma nervous. Says that Kazuma was too excited for the festival so he couldn't sleep, Kazuma then takes back his previous thoughts.
They go to the guild, which has more people than Kazuma has ever seen before. Board is completely filled with missions. Turns out the summer is filled with requests because everyone wants to have a safe festival, really good way to earn money compared to the winter, and the monsters are weaker on average.
One of the major issues are cicadas, leading to Kazuma to be confused. They explain how they are different from the ones in Japan, can live whole months, and are also very numerous.
Second part has them in the forest preparing to clear out the cicadas. Guild staff actually came out to coordinate adventurers, something that usually doesn't happen.
Darkness does her usual speech about making the citizens happy, Megumin also show enthusiasm. Surprisingly Aqua doesn't get carried away, and Kazuma and Aqua have a little chat. Kazuma thinks about Aqua's growth and starts crying; and Aqua starts worrying over why he is suddenly crying. Megumin and Darkness overhear their conversation and get confused.

Same part.They start fighting the waves of insects, with Kazuma wondering why Aqua suddenly became so competent. He then remarks on how his whole party is suddenly very active, and well not sucking like they usually do.
Aqua's busy healing everyone, and Darkness is doing a decent job of being a tank. Kazuma then starts telling Megumin that there isn't a need for her to do anything, but get's interrupted mid-sentence with her casting Explosion.
Wipes out the insects but also floors the adventurers, Aqua barely got out of the way. Megumin rose a level. Kazuma pissed, saying she was an idiot. Yells at her for looking so pleased with herself and tells her to apologize.
She retorts that everybody is used to her explosion magic anyways. Kazuma then looks to Darkness who is suddenly surrounded by ants. Usual Darkness stuff, so Kazuma ignores her.
Another wave of insects coming, disturbed and put into a frenzy due to Megumin's explosion. Whole forest worth of them, Kazuma calls for a full retreat.
Part 3 starts with Kazuma monologing, apparently he is very active in the preparations. He attributes it to his desire for stuff like the culture festivals in school, and remarks on how he missed out on those things while he was a NEET. Attended the committee almost everyday,
They call him a genius consultant because of his idea of making people wear swimsuits. Justifications being that it is celebrating Aqua the goddess of water, and they have to prevent "heat strokes". so security can't complain about it. Use water fights to prevent heat strokes, for safety of course.
Still infighting among the committee about various things. Kazuma talks about festivals from his home country. Also mentions stuff about how there's a rumor that Eris is going to be around in person, so there are going to be people dressing up as her. Compares it to Comiket.

The party (except for Aqua who ran out after staying up all night in excitement) have a chat about the festival while eating breakfast. Megumin asks what Kazuma is doing on the third day, and he replies nothing much. She then asks if he wants to watch the fireworks with her on that day.
Moves on to the evening, Remarks on how crowded area are, and the part ends with him mentioning quarreling has already started.

Apologies for any spelling errors or translation issues, on my third cup of coffee now.Part 5 starts with a fight between Axis and Eris cult members. Darkness is exhausted, due to the amount of complaints coming in. Kazuma gives her some encouragement.
Moves onto Kazuma and Aqua alone together. Mentions how the number of people who follow her will increase. Aqua starts smiling at him in a way that differs from previous times, thanks him for making a good festival for her followers. Kazama remarks in his head about how Aqua has been acting oddly. He decides to change the subject, says how the money brought in could be used to improve her church in Axel. Aqua comments about the deficit, with Kazuma wondering why she's being so obedient. Kazuma feels a bit guilty, and Aqua comments that it has been hard for Kazuma lately and casts a powerful healing spell on him. (Very big ship tease atmosphere in this scene)
End of second day of the festival, Kazuma wants to retire as consultant to enjoy the festival (and partially out of guilty). Enters the committee room to see people welcoming him and urging him to go to the guest of honor position. Succubus is there, from the restaurant, agreeing to wear the swimsuits and stuff. Chapter ends with a toast and Kazuma and the group cheering for happiness and money.
