Her assault on the island was the trigger for Embryo's endgame, setting everything in motion.
She gave Ange much-needed exposition about Embryo and the mana system, even teaching her the offensive capacities of the song.
Along with Tusk and Hilda, she helped Ange to calm down and find a path, something to look forward.
She served as the intermediate between the DRAGON people and the norma; it was thanks to her that the norma not only became allies but they were accepted by the DRAGON people at the end.
Her mecha along with her bodyguards gave the normas a much-needed offensive boost for the final battle
Sadly, character development-wise she got the short end of the stick. This was extra notorious given how Cross Ange was a character-driven show, and Sala was depicted as Ange's arch-rival, something it didn't happen.
