I may be the only person that both browses /a/ and has never seen K-ON!. I am posting this because I am now about to watch it for the first time, and I wanted to share this experience with you guys.
I'm kinda going in to it expecting there to be little to no actual music an it all being cute girls doing cute things, but I've been told there are some really good guitar scenes.
I am now finally ready. See you on the other side, friends.

The animation is actually very good if you pay attention to what they are playing. You can see they are actually playing the chords. I as a drumfag would always pay attention to Ritsu and it really looks like they filmed the drummer playing the songs and then animated her based on that because her movements are really acurate.

A lot of people complain about how music wasn't the main focus, but for me that just made it feel all the more natural and realistic. They're just a bunch of teens in a light music club with music as their hobby, I think the show would have made me roll my eyes pretty hard if we had to sit through "that scene" where the girls become literally the biggest rockstars in Japan.
Not to say that the show would have been good without music entirely, afterall some of the most memorable moments in the show are directly linked to it, but the show focusing on the characters themselves made it much more enjoyable for me.
