I introduced 2 of my friends to Slayers some weeks ago, starting by the blurays of the OVAs.
The first one, who isn't really into animes, dropped after the second episode of Excellent because of Naga.

Hiei was an edgy character done correctly. Most edgy characters are just shit and lack substance, then try to compensate with too much "sloppy" edge.
