Manga version: Original AKA best Motoko. Kind of a huge slut and immature at times but carries herself well since she's not incompetent.
90's movie version: Looks like a bulldyke. In every likelihood is one. Has the personality of a cardboard box despite how classic the movie is.
S.A.C version: Absolute MILF quality. Takes no shit from anyone. S.A.C. Motoko is the best anime one.
Arise version: Haha... HAHAHAHA! This is why the whole GITS franchise already died before Johansson even got the role.

As much as I love Movie Motoko's mystique, she's kind of self-absorbed at the end of the day.
SAC seemed to be more concerned for her squad and the world around her from time to time.
Manga despite having "more personality" is less like a person and more like a character.

I watched GitS when I was in highschool and didn't get it. I watched in more recently and I got it, but thought the philosophical themes were underdeveloped.
Animation is 10/10 throughout at least.

They aren't really general philosophical themes. It's more individual existentialism framed by nationalism.
Anything else is just contributing to the nation/society versus self conflict that appears in every version of the story.
