In Resurrection F, both Goku and Vegeta had surpassed that form.
In the manga, Goku and Vegeta are even stronger than that.
There is literally no reason for anyone to be scared of Beerus now. Goku and Vegeta could for sure beat him.

That means relatively speaking, the Beerus that fought Goku was at the same shape Gohan was when he faced Frieza's men. Once Beerus gets some training in, he'll be back in top form.

They cut that line from Super, with the revelation that he was lying about his power during the battle, we now don't know how much he used there. In fact, in Super, now we have Whis sayings they're like a tree compared to a castle, which is Beerus' level.
Even in the RoF movie, it was clear that Toriyama had stepped back on that and enlarged the gap between them, rather than making the words from BoGs count.
