I think with how Murata is redrawing manga at this moment making fights longer, adding some extra ones, new scenes and so on.. They would need around as many episodes as they needed for Death Note to properly cover whole MA arc till its end. And we are quite a few chapters after it already.. So lots of content.

The animation quality never got back up to the same levels as the first episode. The Saitama vs. Genos fight was the only other one that really impressed me. Episode 12 had good animation but the composition of the shots was nowhere near as good and relied far too much on cuts to/from Saitama/Boros.
