I'm quite the deluded TMfag but even I can see that KnK is the weakest Type Moon work. Nasu even said so. Ufotable did a pretty good job at adapting it, barring Oblivion Recorder, and then they hopped onto the Saber money train.
Paradox Spiral was fantastic and had great direction, but the four previous films were just the path that lead to it. Oblivion Recorder was fanservice and Murder Speculation Part 2 was decent but bad for a climax.

I don't think it's an improvement, even if you remove the ero the dating sim elements are still the core of the game. You have a male protagonist, different routes with plot centered mostly cenetered around girls which feature romance. The thing is, I believe building a story around dating sim elements forces you to write in a certain way and I'm genuinely glad Nasu isn't bound by those restraints anymore.

Before I say anything, I feel that you should know that routes do not equal dating sim elements. A dating sim implies simulation elements, True, VNs have choices in the story, but those do not equate dating sim elements.
As for the format of routes themselves, I don't feel they ever held back the story. Sure, Mahoyo is more focused since the writing can be focused on one storyline, but it's not like Tsukihime and Fate had to force the story to allow focus on the heroine of a route. The chain of events most logically occurs in a way to puts those characters at the center of the story.
What I was actually getting at anyway, is that I wouldn't want Tsukihime to be more tame simply for it to be all ages. Sure, some of the stuff could be edgy sometimes, but it's also what partly defined Tsukihime. I wouldn't mind if rape or slaughter scenes were written differently or were less explicit, but I think they still have their place
