The vast majority of anime has atleast one male, significant or not. Since OP claimed that those are bad, I asked if an anime is good because it's not popular since the chance of a show being good is smaller with a smaller pool of shows. To filter out shows based on the sex of a set of characters is not concrete enough if you want to conclude if it's a significant contributing factor for a good show or not. I agree with the over the top violence being shit but sometimes these types of shows can make you feel a variety of emotions, and it's not a bad thing. For me Kaiji and One Outs were some of the most cathartic shows I've ever seen. I was there cheering, lamenting, and feeling with the main characters. So in this case they would be some of the most memorable shows I've seen and while I get enjoyment from watching flavor of the month SOL they can't compare mainly because of the intensity of the emotions involved. This is what keeps me watching. There is no hatred, anger, or spite involved in this.

Why are you under this assumption? I really enjoyed good SOL like Hidamari, Ichigo Mashimaro, and NNB but most of them don't compare to this standard. Most of the recent SOLs are sterile of any type of emotion. Every studio is trying to cash on it and it shows. I try to give every show a try but I end up disappointed with the quality of SOLs. There's absolutely no hook, no driving force to watch more or care about the characters, which makes a lot of them forgettable to me.
