It's a bit of a shame they get overshadowed in their own arc, but at least they got some spotlight.

They were really saving their budget this episode for the next one.

They've been censoring some of the "gory" stuff this arc for no reason with shadows and lights (Momochi cutting the Yatos in half for example). It feels really out of place.

This arc feels really off and doesn't look as well done as other arcs like Yoshiwara, Spider or promises arc. The action scenes feel lazy and are not up to Gintama standards, and overall i don't get the normal hype and emotional impact i got with previous serious arcs, even though this one is suposed to be the most climatic.

I feel like reading the manga now to see if it's the studio that's fucking it up, because Gintama has been one of the few anime that i like more to watch instead of reading the manga.

As a manga reader, it does feel like they are rushing this arc as they've cut out some scenes and interactions (Abuto investigating the fake Shogun's head for example).

The animation quality this episode was horrible though, so it might also contribute. It felt a lot more climatic in the manga because of the detail in it, which isn't translated properly to screen.

Shogun assassination arc in the anime made me realize how bad it is compared to other more serious arcs, or maybe it's just how the anime is handling it. Other arcs relied a lot more on character interactions and drama which is exactly what I enjoy about gintama, but this arc is just really fast action that hasn't had any time to delve into anything specific, though this feeling is hopefully gonna change with the gintoki flashback hopefully

I meant it more in the way that so far the only fight that had me excited was Kamui vs Okita, the fight against the Yato this chapter for example felt like shit. Rushed, bad animation, and moreover no emotion like for example the fight vs Hosen, because even if those were normal yato the fight lacked the feeling of hopelessness and resolution against an enemy many times stronger.

It basically was like any fight with normal humans but instead of dying of one hit they could take two or three.
