There are times when Mouri just straight up solves cases on his own. Though he acts like it, he's not an idiot.
Usually he's just too lazy to really try, but if it's personal, like say it involves a friend of his dying and the culprit is another of his friends, or if one of the kids are in trouble, he can usually keep up with what Conan usually does.
Honestly that's one of my favorite recurring things in DC. That and the times Conan flat out confronts the culprits on his own.

In the curent theatrical movie Sunflowers of Inferno, it seems that Haibara has affection for Conan. It's evenpointed out by a character in the movie that Haibara should make her move before regrets set in. I liked how Sonoko is beginning to do more things that a responsible heiress should such as speaking out publicly at events as a representative for the Suzuki family.
