You could say this about many characters in this show though. Nagare wouldn't have accomplished his plans without Iwa, specifically. The fact that he found him wasn't a coincidence either. Iwa was the only one who could've been there at the time because his mist sanctum allowed him to survive the kagutsu incident. Without a vassal of Ootori Seigo's caliber Nagare's plan wouldn't have taken off, and it was his precise personal situation what pushed him toward aiding Nagare.
