and although some series have been lost to time from the true golden age, we're still able to access the ones that made the 80s golden.
hell some of the shows from the 80s were so successful that they've still been producing content within the past 10 years

Hyouka, Yamato 2199, bakemonogatari. It was a really good year. I'd say 2008-2012 was an age of anime excellence.

Yamato and Jintai. There was other good stuff, but those were easily the best two.
2015 since you download pretty much anything you want, regardless of how old it is. you can even download with a choice of subs, audio, and resolution.
You can even download currently airing shows weekly, or even stream if you're so inclined or are too poor to afford an hdd.
There is a vibrant community, and although it sucks for the most part, if you know how to navigate around it it can be interesting.
Having fun and enjoying yourself is all that matters.
