For me it was Pokemon, Digimon, and Yugioh on pic related. Though at the time I didn't know that anime was even a thing. I just thought of them as cartoons that were more interesting for reasons I did not understand at the time.

I actually thought they were American cartoons as opposed to the cartoons I would see in Yurope before.
I always thought that the shit like inflating heads, eyes, mouths and other anime dramatic effects were garbage.

Yet I still watched it.

I was young enough at the time that I didn't really care. I've had shit taste for a majority of my life.

I should add that my first time watching anime and knowing in my mind "this is anime" was Bleach's Soul Society arc on Adult Swim, at which point I thought that Bleach was the best shit ever. While I now realize how shit Bleach is, it is sadly my official gateway anime. I was in 10th grade at the time.

YTV was the best, it was such a big part of my childhood.
Don't forget Inuyasha at 9:30pm. Sometimes followed by Witch Hunter Robin, which I never ended up watching as a kid.

Shiiiieeet. I don't think WB kids even exists any more.

>you will never rush home to watch afternoon cartoons again

You shouldn't feel bad anon. Bleach was also my first 'conscious' dig into anime back in 2009.

I don't think even 10% of /a/ started watching anime with something else than shonen.

Yeah, but I was that guy that would ask everyone they knew if they watched X. If they didn't I would tell them to watch X, and if they did I would talk to them about nothing but X.

Does it still feature anime so much or is it just American sitcom crap now?
>>
>>134796413
I haven't even checked it in the better part of a decade.
Apparently the Bionix block was cancelled in 2010, so I assume anime was on the way out leading up to that.

Locomotion or local tv, I don't remember exactly what it was but I do remember watching lots of anime back then. Flint the Time Detective, Red Baron, Evangelion, Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, Digimon, and many others I sadly can't remember, like one about some sexy police woman or other about some ecchi comedy with elfs and warriors.

Same here, InuYasha on Bionix really had me hooked.

A German channel called RTL 2. They used to air anime like Ranma, Doremi or Monster Rancher alongside the usual stuff like Pokemon or DBZ from lke 11:00 to 18:00.

It's truly sad to see what happened to that channel in the past years.

I was like 4 year old watching scary shit at night like gundam and inuyasha in China

I'm pretty sure it's their fault I started fapping at 8 years old

Fuck yeah

Are you Chinese, or Amerifat?

>watching the show afternoon
>playing the game at school

We would even improvise arenas with those salt boxes they keep in the courtyards.
You had to have a branded beyblade but poorfags would try to shove their mundane rip offs every once in a while.

it was great in the 90s-2005, but 2006-2008 sucked and led to it dying
