This manga is surprisingly good. I've read Vol. 2 and the Chinese raws that will eventually become Vol. 3, and there's a lot that they do with the format.I'll add that Mushroom Girl and the Nostril Mage's sister eventually die. Mushroom Girl becomes part of the Demon Lord, and Truza kills her.

Yeah, they play with that a lot. To forge the contract, he has to drink some of their blood. Later, to power-up for a big boss battle, the governor of a city willingly sends his bodyguard to their deaths, then offers Truza a vial with their blood in it so he can power-up.
Also, Hero Compensation is really hard on the body. By the end of the third volume, Truza is short one leg and two more fingers. There's a part where he's punched through a wall, and just lies there for a moment, reflecting:

the world works like and RPG with Lvl, classes and experience
his class allows him to lvl up equal to the lvl of his dead companions (if 3 lvl5 companions die, his lvl goes to 15) but he dont get any Exp for the monsters he kill, so after the effect runs out he goes back to be a lvl 1
he cant lvl up on his own cause aside from that skill his class dont posses any other skill or power

Nah, they have to be in a "contract" with him, basically he needs some of their blood to form a contract and that's it. There was a part later in the manga where he just drank the blood of 7 fodder witches before they die to get their levels despite him being far away.
