Has anybody felt like there hasn't been any real trainwreck "watch anime with /a/" shows lately?
I think the last one was Kill La Kill. There have been a couple of adaptations that got the board going like UBW or something but the real ones are the anime-original ones where we don't know what's going to happen
It felt like these kind of shows used to happen slightly more frequently. Remember the days of Keyhole or trying to find a working stream for stuff like Star Driver, Guilty Crown, Valvrave and even back in the day, Code Geass. Even Penguindrum got pretty crazy threads as it went on.
Now all the anime originals just crash and burn or completely peter out like Charlotte or Comet Lucifer. I really miss it.
Maybe Kiznaiver will bring it back

Yeah, Cross Ange had that "holy fuck" factor in episode 1 and managed to hold it for a while but I think it couldn't really stick with it for the whole show because there was a dropoff in posters in the threads around 2/3 of the way in.

I think the bigger issue is that we've segregated all discussion into one or two threads per show. The only ones that get more than that now are shit like OPM where a bunch of crossboarders make threads about tangentially related power-level discussions or whatever.

I feel like people aren't getting what I'm talking about. I'm talking about stuff like back like in the 2010s when it felt like we were getting like two of these kind of shows a year, people made threads way before it was time to air and everybody was live watching it. I haven't been in a livewatch thread where it felt like people were posting in it in a long ass time.

Remember how nobody expected anything special of Valvrave, thinking it was just a SEED clone? And then episode 1 happened and SPACE VAMPIRES and suddenly shit went crazy and people were throwing speculations and "what the fucks" every week and everybody started tuning into livestream channels

I don't know what it is about that show but somewhere around the middle I really just wanted it to end and basically just watched the rest because I already watched so much in the first place. I'll never get what people find interesting about it.

Charlotte is close. It's really really close but I think it fucked around too much. There were episodes that were HYPE and episodes that were shit.
I feel like if the last episode was like 3 episodes, and had some of the elements the second half of the show had through the entire show it could have really been something amazing. Well maybe not amazing, but better paced
