I'm sentimental towards it for being the show that really got me into anime. it's a fucking mindblowing show for someone who's never really watched a full anime before
looking back on it, I've seen better animes, but it's still pretty cool. I think it's worth a watch. though yeah, the island/africa arcs are incredibly painful to sit through, they're not entirely skip-worthy, a few island/africa episodes are important to the story.

I thought the ending was pretty good. Actually provided closure and gave everyone a bit in the ending. The end scenes with Nadia's parents, Nemo's sacrifice, and Jean waking up and such had just the right amount of emotion, and the soundtrack music used was solid. The final shot with Marie and Samson was gorgeous too. It's one of the few anime endings that leaves me completely satisfied.

I thought it was a great show. Didn't really feel like too other anime shows out there. You can definitely see the inspiration from Jules Verne's books, and it gets that 'adventure' vibe they're known for down perfectly. They do it so well I felt almost like I was watching Indiana Jones for the first time again.
Like others have mentioned there's an island/Africa arc that sucks but the show overall is honestly great.
Watched it with a friend who had seen it before, was pretty good though sometimes the humour could be a bit too silly and jarring in contrast with scenes like the engine room one.
