Other than that either work out your problems, break up, or don't cheat. Whichever it is just don't show me that poor bastard's face on page 1 because I immediately identify them as the main character subconsciously, and will instinctively empathize and root for them, even though the manga's about their wife leaving them and I know it.
God if I wasn't so tired I could remember the name of this one manga that was really good despite having keking. It was like some guy was trying to have a passionate affair with his former classmate now that he was all fit and stuff. Classmate is the biggest christmas cake librarian now, and he is rich and married doctor. But as the manga progresses it's shown that he isn't the ruthless sadist cheating bastard he's implied to be, rather he's stuck in a loveless political marriage where his wife practically openly texts and flirts with her lover.

It's hard to identify with a character when they supposedly have a history with the MC that the viewer was never privy to. It's better for women to identify with a character that's introduced to the MC in the beginning since they can see their whole relationship develop, and the relationship between the characters is the most important part to them. In general, I think women just have a harder time self-inserting for whatever reason, which is probably why otome game MCs are so annoyingly bland.

It probably stems from an instinct that aggressive mates produce more successful offspring or a desire for someone to liberate their sexuality since women are taught to be ashamed and guarding of their bodies and desires. Maybe a mix of both. When you read a story you often try to self-project into the MC to experience the story and if they show you the first guy, you assume that he is going to be the MC even if it’s only show for a few pages. Unless that guy is so overly generic and bland that you just can't give a damn about.
